Tete Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains the information that Tete (“we”, “us” or “our”) collects about users of the Tete mobile application (“Tete App”) and websites, how we use that information, and with whom we share it. For the avoidance of doubt, the Tete App, websites, software, and related services accessed via any platform or device that link to this Privacy Policy shall hereinafter be collectively termed as the “Platform.” If we make any material changes to our privacy practices, we will post a revised Privacy Policy on this page, and you agree that it is your responsibility to regularly check our website for all updates to this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy is read in conjunction with, and is deemed incorporated by reference, to be part of the Terms of Service. Accordingly, if you use our Platform, you must agree with the terms and conditions (T&Cs) set out herein this Privacy Policy, and the terms and conditions herein shall constitute a binding and enforceable agreement against you. In the event that you do not agree with any provision herein this Privacy Policy, please immediately cease all use of the Platform.

1. Types of Data Collected

1.1 When you visit, access, or use the Platform, we collect your Personal Data and Anonymised Data to fulfill the purposes we collected it for and to satisfy our business and/or legal purposes.

1.2 Personal Data refers to information with personal identifiers that can be used separately or collectively to identify an individual, such as name, address, national identification number, mobile number, email address, birthdate, gender, residency status, or photograph.

1.3 Anonymised Data refers to information that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Data and cannot be used to identify individual persons.

We will only collect Personal Data necessary to fulfill our services to you; sometimes types of data not limited to those specified under Clause 1.2 will be collected.

2. Information that We Collect Automatically

2.1 When you use the Platform, we automatically collect and store information about your device and activities. This information might include:

a. Your mobile device’s unique ID number.

b. Your mobile device’s geographic location while the Tete App is actively running.

c. Your device’s IP address.

d. Technical information about your device (such as type, browser, or operating system).

e. Your preferences and settings (time zone, language, privacy preferences, etc.).

f. The URL of the last web page you visited before coming to our website.

g. The buttons, controls, and ads you clicked on (if any).

h. How long you used the Platform and which services and features you accessed.

i. The online or offline status of the Platform.

2.2 We allow third-party analytics companies to use tracking technologies to collect Anonymised Data about our users’ devices and online activities. These companies analyze this information to help us understand how the Platform is being used. Analytics companies may use mobile device IDs, as described below:

Mobile Device IDs: In order to recognize you, store your preferences, and track your use of our application, we may store your Mobile Device IDs (the unique identifier assigned to a device by the manufacturer) when you use the Platform. Unlike cookies, Mobile Device IDs cannot be deleted.

2.3 We may publicly disclose aggregated information that is Anonymised Data about our users, such as the total number of users and their overall demographics.

3. Information You Choose to Provide

A. Registration and Profile

3.1 To register for an account to use Tete, you will be asked to provide Personal Data to create your user account.

3.2 You may be required to provide additional information about yourself (such as your gender, location, or biography) to enhance the quality of your interactions with other Platform users. None of the Personal information you provide may be publicly displayed unless you give authorization.

3.3 You hereby confirm that you grant your specific informed consent to our collection, use, retention, sharing, disclosure, and/or transfer of your Personal Data pursuant to clauses 3.1 to 3.2 above.

3.4 If you wish, we will delete your account information; to do so, please close your account by sending an email to info@tete.org.

B. Third-Party Sites and Applications

3.5 The Platform may contain hyperlinks to websites or mobile applications operated by third parties. These websites or applications are not governed by our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or data security. We urge you to review their privacy policies before providing any Personal Data.

4. How Long We Keep Your Information

4.1 Personal information will only be kept for as long as needed to provide our services and as permitted by Zimbabwean law. If you decide to stop using our services, you can close your account, and your profile will no longer be visible to other members. We will retain personal information for three months after account closure or one year for banned accounts, to facilitate potential investigations into misuse or unlawful activities.

4.2 Upon final approval by the Data Protection Officer (DPO), your personal information will be deleted at the end of the month after it is scheduled for deletion.

5. Use of Your Information by Others

5.1 To provide the Platform and other services, we engage third-party service providers. We may share user information, including Personal Data, with:

• Service Providers: Cloud services, content moderation services, and marketing support.
• Payment Processors: To facilitate subscriptions or payment transactions.
• Analytics Providers: To optimize and improve the Platform.
• Advertisers: To display targeted advertisements.
• Corporate Group: Subsidiaries or affiliates of Tete for service optimization.

5.2 For Legal Reasons: We will share Personal Data with law enforcement agencies, public authorities, or other organizations if legally required to do so.

6. Transferring Personal Data

6.1 Personal Data may be transferred to servers located outside Zimbabwe. By using the Platform, you consent to such transfers.

7. Your Consent

7.1 By using the Platform, you grant your specific informed consent to our collection, use, retention, disclosure, and transfer of your Personal Data as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

8. Access and Correction of Personal Data

8.1 To access, update, or correct your Personal Data, log into your account or email info@tete.org

8.2 There may be administrative fees for accessing certain records or fulfilling specific requests.

9. Minor’s Privacy

9.1 The Platform is not intended for persons under 18. Parents and legal guardians are responsible for preventing minors from accessing the Platform. If we discover data from minors without consent, we will delete it.

10. Do-Not-Call Provisions

10.1 Users are encouraged to register their mobile numbers with relevant Do-Not-Call indications to avoid unsolicited marketing calls.

11. Security Measures

11.1 The Platform is protected by reasonable security measures, including encryption, password protection, and restricted access to Personal Data.

11.2 We take steps to ensure Personal Data is not kept longer than necessary.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

12.1 This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Zimbabwe. In case of disputes, efforts will be made to resolve issues amicably. If unresolved, disputes will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of Zimbabwean courts.

Welcome to Tete, a platform designed to foster meaningful connections. By accessing or using Tete, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using our services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use Tete.

2. Changes to the Terms

Tete reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our platform, and your continued use after such modifications constitutes acceptance.

3. Use of the Platform

a. Account Registration

b. Prohibited Activities

• Be married and use the Platform’s matchmaking service.

4. Content Guidelines

You retain ownership of the content you post on Tete but grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use and distribute such content for the operation of the platform. You agree that:

• Your content will not infringe any third-party rights.
• Tete may review, modify, or remove any content that violates these Terms.

5. Privacy

Your use of Tete is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

6. Paid Features

Tete may offer free and paid features or subscriptions. When paying, you agree to:

• Provide accurate payment information.
• Abide by the pricing, billing, and cancellation terms presented during purchase.
• Understand that payments are non-refundable unless stipulated in official written communication from the Platform.

7. Termination

Tete reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms or at its discretion. You may also delete your account at any time.

8. Disclaimers

Tete is provided on an “as-is” basis. We do not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of the content or services and disclaim all warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Tete will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

10. Dispute Resolution

All disputes will be resolved through arbitration under the guidance of Zimbabwean laws. You waive the right to participate in class actions.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe. The laws of Zimbabwe shall apply mutatis mutandis (with necessary changes) to persons outside the country.
